Alerts

An alert is a filter plus a destination plus a schedule. Set a few up and you can stop opening the dashboard out of habit.

Alerts is the third item in the sidebar. Each row is one alert, showing where it sends, how often, and a switch to pause it without deleting it. Click a row to edit; Add alert creates a new one.

Choosing a destination

Email
Any address. It does not have to belong to a team member.
Slack
A channel in your connected workspace, picked from a list. Connect Slack first. Until you do, the option prompts you to.
Webhook
An HTTPS URL of your own. BrandSonar POSTs a signed JSON payload; see Webhooks.

Choosing a frequency

Frequency is the difference between an alert you keep and one you mute in a week. Reserve Instant for the narrow filters.

Instant
Sent as soon as a matching mention is found.
Hourly
At most one message an hour, batching whatever arrived.
Daily
One digest a day, at a time and in a timezone you choose.
Weekly
One digest a week, on a day, at a time, in a timezone you choose.

Narrowing what triggers it

Under Filters, restrict the alert by platform, by sentiment, and by minimum relevance. Leave a filter untouched and it matches everything. The labels under each group say so explicitly (“All platforms”, “Any sentiment”).

Two combinations do most of the work:

  • Negative mentions, instant, to Slack. Rare enough to interrupt you, urgent enough to want to.
  • High relevance, daily, to email. One readable digest of everything that was genuinely about you.

Pausing and editing

The switch on each row disables the alert without losing its configuration, which beats deleting one you will want back next quarter. Editing an alert changes it from the next send onwards; it does not resend anything already delivered.

What alerts do not cover

Alerts fire on mentions of your own brand. Competitor mentions are tracked and readable in their own feed, but they do not trigger alerts. Keep an eye on those in the app, or pull them through the API.

Alerts are available on paid plans.
