Competitors

A competitor is a second brand monitored beside your own: same platforms, same scoring, its own keywords and labels.

Competitors live under Settings → Competitors, and appear as their own section in the sidebar once added. They are useful for the question the mentions feed cannot answer on its own: is this normal, or is it just us?

Adding one

Click Add and give BrandSonar the competitor's website. It runs the same wizard your own brand went through, minus the last step, since a competitor cannot have competitors of its own:

  • the website, which the AI reads;
  • suggested keywords and social profiles, for you to review;
  • suggested labels, adapted to that company rather than copied from yours. The same model that writes yours writes theirs.

Scanning starts as soon as you finish, exactly as it did for your own brand.

Reading competitor mentions

Open a competitor in the sidebar for its feed alone, or use the combined view to read all of them at once, where each card carries a chip naming the brand it belongs to. All the usual filters apply.

Tuning a competitor

Open one from Settings → Competitors to edit it. Each competitor carries its own:

Name and domain
How it is labelled across the app.
Keywords
The terms that count as a mention of that company, separate from yours.
Negative keywords
Terms that disqualify a post from their feed.
Labels
Their own categories. Naming them the same as yours makes the two feeds easier to read side by side.

How competitors count against your plan

Your plan caps monitors, meaning your own brand plus every competitor, and separately caps competitors per brand.

Plus
6 monitors, up to 5 competitors.
Pro
21 monitors, up to 20 competitors.

Removing a competitor deletes its mentions, keywords, labels, and platform settings along with it, and frees the monitor immediately.

Competitor mentions do not trigger alerts. Alerts fire on your own brand only.
